Thank You Roree!

A while back, Roree Rumph had a little challenge on her blog. I made a little card for it and she sent me a box of some fabulous goodies and one of her super cool cards. She sent a package of SEI papers that are just beautiful and some great clear stamps and paper frills. I love them all! I had been driving to the store when my husband called and said the mailman just delivered a package from Roree Rumph. I immediately turned the car around and he met me at the curb with the box. I know, I'm a dork, but I was so excited. My daughter and I sat in the car and admired each and every item in the box and I kept looking at her card (it is now sitting on my desk). It was so fun. I'm sure that Roree is probably considering issuing a restraining order but I really just LOVE her style. So between dance recitals, soccer, the book fair, cub scouts, and endless other responsibilities that I've had this month, I am just barely getting to use my new treasures. It's been killing me to look at them just sitting on my desk. Here's a little card I made with some of them.
The cool glitter stripe paper, journaling tag, and butterfly are all from the SEI package Roree sent. The dot paper is Doodlebug. The letter stickers are Rusty Pickle. The brown brads are Making Memories and the jewels are Kaisercraft. Well, tomorrow is the last day of the book fair (hallelujah!) and I had better be well rested to handle counting all those sweet little kids pennies from their piggy banks. It's looking like a very eventful weekend. Many good things going on. More later.

I'm Back, Kandice!

My most awesome and amazing friend, Kandice has been wondering where I've been. It's nice to know that someone misses you when you are gone. My blog has definately been neglected lately. There has been a lot going on and not much of it has been working on anything creative. Let's see, there have been soccer games, dance recitals, meetings and I'm in charge of the school book fair. Also, I spent a fair amount of time visiting Kandice one day. I also have had a nasty string of migraines during the last month, but not to worry, I had started some new vitamins about a month ago and it turns out that they were the cause of my headaches. So I stopped taking them this week and I'm feeling TONS better.
Today I attended my brother's ward to watch baby Lexie's blessing. Afterward we had a little get together at his house and we used the opportunity to celebrate my Grandma's birthday. She is so great. I am always amazed by all the things that she knows. She and my grandpa help me so much. It's incredible what they accomplish in a day. My grandma has helped me sew and I learned about sifting flour from her. Her flour sifter was the first one I had ever seen. She worked at the bank when I was a girl and I remember going to the bank just to visit her. She's also a really talented artist. She used to take me to her painting group and give me a little piece of canvas and turn me loose with her oil paints. I loved to paint with her but my creations always took FOREVER to dry. That's the snag with oil paints. Days may as well be years when you're waiting for paint to dry. She also had a cool button jar that I used to love to sift and sort through. I still remember her button jar when I am sifting through mine. Sleepovers at her house were my favorite when I was little, plus she had a stash of Ding Dongs and Twinkies and things. Grandmas always have stashes of things that can never be found at your house. Good times, good times.
Here's the little card I made for her.

Can I just tell you how much I am in love with Cosmo Cricket's Girl Friday line. I'm on my third sheet of this pink polka dot/stripe "Saturday" paper. It's become my new white dot. I've also used quite a bit of the "Sunday" paper as well. It's the blue floral/green graph paper on the flower and leaves. The chipboard scallopped circle is Colorbok and the letter stickers are Making Memories. I can't remember where the green scalloped velvet ribbon is from though. The blue flower is my own design and the center is made from a Stampin' Up punch and two sizes of circle punch. My grandma liked it and I hope you do too. My daughter is itching to get on to Webkinz so I had better go. Be back soon with a few more things to show you. Have a good day.

Big A Little a, What Begins With A...

...Alexis and Alexandra. A...A...A. Well since Miss Lexie is here now and she and my daughter not only are the only girls but also have very similar names which both start with the letter A, my daughter and I decided she needed a big letter A for her room. We went over and matched some paper with the paint on Lexie's wall (you can't have the wrong color of pink, you know) and set to work.

We started with a large unfinished wooden A. It is almost 12" high. I first painted it with 2 coats of white acrylic and then 2 coats of a spectacular pink called "Poodle Skirt Pink". It is the precise color of Lexie's room. Then I sanded it a little to reveal the white paint in places. I then Mod Podged on a sheet of paper by My Mind's Eye from their Penny Lane collection. I used sandpaper to sand off the edges of the paper and make it fit just right.

The chipboard flower is from Melissa Frances and the patterned papers in the flower center and the leaves are, Daisy D's, SEI, Fancy Pants, and Dream Street Papers.

The epoxy brad is from Imaginisce and I coated everything that wasn't already sparkly with a coat of Martha Stewart glitter.
This butterfly is a little blurry but it started out as a Scenic Route chipboard butterfly. I gave it a coat of "Poodle Skirt Pink" (I just love saying that) and Mod Podged Daisy D's and Fancy Pants paper on it. Coated it with glitter and added some jewels. I also added jewels for the butterfly's trail. I added a pink ribbon with white polka dots and holy cow! It just looks like a little girl. Pink with flowers, glitter, jewels, and a bow totally just says GIRL! It so reminds me of Miss Lexie. Hope she loves it (or at least my amazing sister-in-law).
